5ft x 4ft (152cm x 122cm)
Acrylic on canvas with gold leaf and newsprint from an 1892 issue of Harper’s bizarre magazine that I picked up at an auction in New York when I was 12.
I painted the background first, then went totally nuts, letting intuition guide me. It was a frustrating process trying a new technique on such a big piece (usually I have a starting point, idea or at least colors in mind).
Lots spilled out into this one, I was pregnant with my second daughter and thinking about how we were about to become a family of four which is why I think there are four “egg-shaped landscapes.” Kind of suits your current sitch. 😉
Also, it reminds me of a Melbourne laneway, thus the title.
