I modified this recipe from one of my Grandmother’s, updating it and making it slightly more healthy.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 6 Granny Smith Apples, Peeled and Sliced
  • 1/2 Lemon, Juiced
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon

Crisp Topping

  • 1/2 cup Coconut Oil (or Butter or Both)
  • 1/2 cup Oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup Quinoa Flakes
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar or Coconut Sugar (Less if you don't want it too sweet)
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven to 350F or 180C
  2. Peel and Slice Apples
  3. In a large mixing bowl combine Apples, Lemon Juice and Coconut Sugar. Mix well with your hands.
  4. In a greased baking pan, place apple mixture and smooth it out evenly.
  5. In another bowl, mix dry ingredients together and layer evenly over apple mixture.
  6. Melt Butter or Coconut Oil and drizzle over the top of your crisp evenly.
  7. Bake for one hour. Serve Warm with Vanilla Ice Cream.
